     Hélène Léveillée: (1932-)

Hélène Léveillée was born in Montreal.

She distinguished herself, even as a child, by her talent for drawing, for which she was awarded many school prizes.

She began her apprenticeship at the Montreal School of Fine Arts where she perfected the techniques of charcoal, pastels, watercolors and oils with renowned teachers.

Inspired by nature, the changes of seasons, and the beauty of rural scenery, she concentrated on plays of light and shadows as well as on the bodily expressions of her characters.

Watchful of everyday scenes, she is able to capture the simple moments of life.

Excellent portraitist, Hélène Léveillée captured the essence of several personalities of the Canadian political scene...
