Jacques Fugère was born on October 2, 1930 in Thetford-Mines, Quebec. Already, in his early childhood, his skill in drawing drew him the praise of his family and his teachers. Artist at heart and showing little interest in studies, he left college at eighteen to work in a major photography studio.

For twenty-five years, he will successfully exploit his artistic qualities. Many awards adorn the walls of his studio, witnesses to the enviable reputation he has built in this area.

In 1967, the association of Quebec photographers awarded him the title of "Photographer of the Year" crowning once again his career. Seeing the past years, he realizes gradually that photography does not meet his needs, his search for freedom in the image.

He decided to devote himself entirely to his first passion painting that he had never abandoned. Self-taught in this art, he will have the chance to rub shoulders with the famous painter Albert Rousseau.

This great master for whom he had a deep admiration, knew how to give him the taste of the daily drawing, and while respecting his identity, deepened in him the composition and the harmony of the colors. Fugère is placed under a classic art of great honesty.

Regarding his paintings

Observer of extreme sensitivity, he paints the beauty of the simple things that surround us and transmits through his works a sense of beauty in front of nature, making us vibrate through the play of shapes and colors. The light and the atmosphere of its landscapes make us relive the season and even the hour of their achievements.
