rollins history

Yvon Goulet acts as a visual historian looking for cultural artifacts in the gay village of Montreal. His paintings, inspired by the festive and cultural events of the gay community, allow him to express the everyday, record the event and put the male body as an active participant in the gay community. "I express the environment in which I live, that is to say, basically the village. The body of the man, unlike many other artists, is for me not an end, but an accessory that allow me to go to an urban representation and also to a social statement of my time ". Always fragmented, divided and constructed, his paintings juxtapose a multitude of episodic fragments linked to gay manners that, once assembled, form a multidimensional vision of the gay community.
