     H. Eileen Bentley (1915-2006):

Eileen Bentley (1915-2006) was born in Nova Scotia. She studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art, Nova Scotia Technical College, and Holland College School of Visual Arts in Charlottetown, P.E.I. She was the wife of another Prince Edward Island artist, Charles F. Bentley. They lived in Charlottetown. After her family had grown, she spent time at Holland College as a student and later taught at least one course. Eileen is best known for her island scenes, both landscapes and city views. She would say "(a)rt is always a compelling challenge. I have enjoyed immensely oils, acrylics, watercolours, pastels, illuminating, printmaking – each with its own exciting possibilities and satisfactions.” Eileen Bentley died in Charlottetown.
