    Jack Ross:

Melocheville was a municipality in Quebec located between Saint-Timothée (Salaberry-de-Valleyfield) and Beauharnois. It merged in 2002 in Beauharnois; it is from an area of this municipality.

It is to Joseph Meloche that we owe the name of the municipality of Melocheville (Quebec). This small village on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River is located 27 miles (45 km) upstream from Montreal. In the mid-19th century, one of the locks on the Beauharnois Canal was built there, allowing boats to cross the wise path between Lake St-François and Lake St-Louis while bypassing the famous Lachine Rapids.
