  Adam Sherriff Scott (1887-1980) :

Adam Sherriff Scott (né le 18 juillet 1887 à Perth ou Galashiels en Écosse et mort le 23 octobre 1980 à Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue) est un artiste peintre, portraitiste et muraliste canadien.

Il réalise ses études à la Edinburgh School of Art à Londres. Son succès lui mérite un séjour de trois ans au Allen Fraser Institute. Il revient à Londres, où il étudie à la Slade School of Art avec Henry Tonks. Il arrive à Montréal en 1912, après un séjour d'un an dans l'Ouest canadien.

Durant la Première Guerre mondiale, il s'engage dans le régiment des Highlanders en Écosse.

Au cours des années 20, il séjourne dans le Grand Nord canadien et en Arctique où il exécute un bon nombre de peintures de scènes de la vie des Inuits.

En 1921, Il joint le groupe de Beaver Hall. Il est reçu membre de l'Académie royale des arts du Canada en 1942. Au cours de sa carrière, il participe régulièrement aux expositions annuelles ou Salon du Printemps de l'Art Association of Montreal.

Adam Sherriff Scott (born July 18, 1887 in Perth or Galashiels in Scotland and died October 23, 1980 in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue) is a Canadian painter, portrait painter and muralist.

He studied at the Edinburgh School of Art in London. His success earned him a three-year stay at the Allen Fraser Institute. He returned to London, where he studied at the Slade School of Art with Henry Tonks.

He arrived in Montreal in 1912, after a one-year stay in Western Canada.

During World War I, he enlisted in the Highlanders regiment in Scotland.

During the 1920s, he stayed in the Canadian Far North and in the Arctic where he painted a number of paintings of scenes from Inuit life. In 1921, he joined the Beaver Hall group. He was made a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1942.

During his career, he regularly participated in annual exhibitions or at the Salon du Printemps of the Art Association of Montreal.
